On the mild patina of archive Armani in Area Homme Plus

Max Pearmain
and Alasdair McLellan’s Armani tribute portfolio in Area Homme Plus is a fab reminder of the informal greatness of Emporio Armani and Armani Denims (except for Giorgio’s mushy tailoring legacy).

Pearmain’s combine and mismatch layered styling is complemented by McLellan’s modern lens and Piotr Chamier’s casting and all are underscored by Ashley Heath’s editor’s letter (beneath) celebrating the decades-spanning attraction of the lately departed sprezzatura grasp.

One other takeaway from this shoot is that many of the garments are classic – predominantly mid-90s. Sourced primarily from File, it does away with the modern-day stylists’ tyranny of ‘full seems’, permitting Pearmain a level of styling spontaneity. (Amen!) To not point out the distinctive worn-in patina that previous garments have, that make them immediately appear like ‘yours’, one thing runway-fresh items inherently lack.
